ARA Networks, Inc., a leading provider of Web Acceleration and Internet Traffic Management (ITM) solutions, introduces its advanced JAGUAR(R) Web-caching and Traffic Sentinel(R) Internet traffic monitoring solutions to the U.S. Web-architecture market. Designed specifically for high bandwidth-demanding content providers, CDNs, carriers, ISPs and enterprises experiencing Internet traffic challenges, ARA Networks' high-performance product line provides stable and reliable Web traffic acceleration, Web server load reduction, and bandwidth optimization.
"According to market forecasts, U.S. Internet traffic in 2015 will be 50 times greater than it was in 2006.(1) This dramatic growth will require the U.S. Web-architecture market to invest more than $100 billion in bandwidth, storage and traffic management capabilities to keep pace with demand," said James Perfetti, president of ARA Networks, Inc. "Focused exclusively on ITM solutions, ARA Networks is positioning itself to lead the industry with proven, market-leading JAGUAR and Traffic Sentinel ITM solutions that enable our target customers to cost-effectively maximize existing Web infrastructures and IT investments. The result is substantial business benefits, cost savings and growth opportunities."
With ARA Networks solutions, content providers, CDNs, carriers, ISPs and enterprises can improve their quality of service by optimizing content delivery for a more responsive Web experience. ARA's Web-caching solutions reduce bandwidth and maintenance costs for the content and service provider, and enhance efficiency and operational capacity by reducing connections and load to the existing Web infrastructure.
JAGUAR 5000 and 3000 Web-caching Appliances
According to Perfetti, ARA Networks' JAGUAR series of Web-caching appliances is one of the industry's most powerful and scalable ITM technologies available today. The proprietary, Linux OS-based JAGUAR provides gigabit performance and compatibility with a wide array of drivers and system configurations. JAGUAR feature highlights include:
-- Minimal Context Thread (MCT) - Creates a thread system enabling faster context switching and scheduling. MCT is capable of handling one million sessions efficiently and accelerates processing by creating only one thread per CPU core, allowing optimal scalability.
-- Web Cache Objects Storage (WCOS) - Exclusive file system designed specifically for Web caching to solve disk bottlenecks by allowing parallel disk access and processing while optimizing RAM usage. In addition, it improves the transaction time of disk IO/memory IO by accelerating the throughput processing of Web requests.
-- Disk Failure Management - Fail-over function automatically detects disk errors and avoids failures. This allows the Web-cache service to be sustained with the remaining operational disks and can be hot-swapped during operations to eliminate down time.
-- Connection Management - Utilizes an effective connection management system using HTTP/1.1 persistent connection creating optimal workload by minimizing connections to the origin server.
-- Cluster Management - Supports integrated management to monitor clustered servers.
JAGUAR product specifications include:
JAGUAR 5000 JAGUAR 3000 -- 32GB of physical memory and up -- 4GB of physical memory and to 10TBs of Web object cache 500GB of Web object cache storage per appliance storage per appliance -- 64-bit architecture -- 32-bit architecture -- 1Gbps throughput -- 1Gbps throughput -- More than 1 million concurrent -- 192,000 concurrent connections connections -- Reverse or forward proxy cache -- Reverse or forward proxy cache mode mode ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------
Traffic Sentinel Series
The Traffic Sentinel Traffic Monitor (TS Traffic Monitor) is a Layer 7, high-throughput network traffic management-system appliance. TS Traffic Monitor is based on deep-packet inspection (DPI) technology ensuring real-time visibility into a network's behavior. The appliance utilizes a network tap that mirrors traffic and eliminates any potential disruption of services due to system failure. Ultimately, the appliance provides ISPs and enterprises the utmost control over their network traffic. TS Traffic Monitor features include:
-- Traffic-usage monitor by source, destination, port and protocol
-- Bandwidth-usage report by minute, hour, month and year
-- Policy-based control of individual P2P applications
-- Analysis of network traffic using sniffer plug-in
-- Bandwidth-threshold notification alerts
Additionally, the Traffic Sentinel Application Security (TS Application Security) protects enterprise content assets being passed through instant-messaging systems, Web-based e-mail, FTP and other Web-based applications. While conventional security applications such as Firewalls are incapable of detecting and blocking protocols that use random ports or proxies, TS Application Security can inspect up to 1Gbps of throughput to detect and prevent unauthorized Web usage in real time, enabling enterprises to evaluate the effectiveness of security policies and prevent irreversible security violations.
