Beta Music Site Takes Aim at MySpace Music's Mainstream Moves

Posted on: Monday, 29 September 2008, 21:00 CDT

NEW YORK, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A music startup that has quietly attracted more than 750,000 members, today opened its beta platform to independent artists and labels frustrated by recent negotiations with the newly launched MySpace Music service. The startup, Babulous, is focused on the needs of independent artists, labels and fans. Babulous gives the community an alternative to MySpace's big label and News Corp.-owned network. The company's "Profile Song" is the most active music application on MySpace's top competitor, Facebook.

"We are all about independent music and the people that love that genre," said Ali Emami, founder and chairman, Babulous. "What we are developing is a place where music lovers can connect, share and have anytime, anywhere access to their playlists and those of others. Tastemakers and influencers will help lead and direct the content and success of independent artists around the world."

Babulous is focused on connecting artists, labels and music lovers through powerful social networking capabilities. The ultimate goal is to create an environment for independent music fans and artists to interact, and for labels to extend the reach of their brands.

Babulous also is inviting current and new members to voice their opinions at http://www.babulous.com/ on what features are important to them on the site and will incorporate that feedback into its official launch of the site in November.
