Xkoto Releases New Version of GRIDSCALE for DB2

September 30, 2008

xkoto, the database virtualization company, today announced the 4.1 release of GRIDSCALE for DB2, which enables IT professionals to more easily migrate DB2 databases between server and operating platforms, synchronize databases for disaster recovery, and more easily manage their database environments.

Highlights of GRIDSCALE 4.1 include:

— Ability to support mixed operating systems and database versions in the same virtualized database pool, allowing IT to migrate between hardware, operating systems and database versions without downtime

— Support for synchronous and asynchronous database replication, guaranteeing zero data loss for remote databases

— Enhanced transaction support, including support for XA transactions and the ability for GRIDSCALE to act as a federated data source

— Improved management tools, including an updated management console and more fully-featured command-line utilities which make it easier to manage virtual databases

— Expanded support for third-party enterprise applications

xkoto today also announced GRIDSCALE for SQL Server, which delivers advanced scalability and reliability to that platform. For more information on GRIDSCALE 4.1 and SQL Server support, visit http://www.xkoto.com/products.

“OmniSYS has long relied on GRIDSCALE to provide continuous availability of our mission critical systems, which serve nearly 30,000 pharmacies,” said Richard Bays, VP of Information Technology, OmniSYS, LLC. “The extended features and functions in the new release meet our needs and add considerable value to the product.”

GRIDSCALE virtualizes the database infrastructure, enabling businesses to distribute application loads horizontally across multiple instances of DB2 running on clusters of low-cost hardware and mid-range systems. With GRIDSCALE, businesses can improve application performance, scalability, and achieve continuous, 24X7 availability for distributed DB2 applications.

“For businesses seeking higher levels of scalability and availability at lower cost, the combination of DB2 and GRIDSCALE offers a compelling alternative to database software from other vendors,” said Paul Zikopoulos, Program Director, IBM. “We’re looking forward to these GRIDSCALE enhancements adding further value for our mutual customers, and to the growing DB2 ecosystem.”

Compatibility for Enterprise Applications

GRIDSCALE is compatible with custom, line-of-business applications as well as an expanding set of packaged enterprise applications, including:

— Informatica PowerCenter and IBM WebSphere DataStage, which provide real-time integration to other information sources in the enterprise;

— TMW Systems’ TruckMate, for continuous availability of mission-critical logistics operations;

— BusinessObjects XI, for horizontal scalability of business intelligence reporting;

— IBM Tivoli Maximo, for protection of critical asset management information; and

— IBM WebSphere Application Server, to protect highly visible websites 24/7.

“GRIDSCALE 4.1 adds several new, critical features that enable us to meet the expanding needs of our customers and prospects,” said David Patrick, President and Chief Executive Officer, xkoto. “GRIDSCALE’s new mixed platform support and improved management tools make it easier to migrate databases between platforms and perform administrative tasks without outages.”
