TOKYO, Oct. 1, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Internet Initiative Japan Inc., (IIJ), (Nasdaq:IIJI), (TSE1:3774), one of Japan’s leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced the launch of the IIJ Contents Delivery Service, a new service that makes it easy to use gigabit-class distribution systems.

This service uses a high-volume distribution platform connected directly to IIJ’s high-speed backbone to distribute the customer’s content. This system provides an ideal environment for distributing streaming video, software, and similar broadband-dependent content, and even when traffic volumes suddenly spike, the customer’s high-quality content can be distributed without the need for additional equipment.

Below is a list of service highlights.

    1. Broadband Distribution Using IIJ's Backbone The system uses a high-availability system that combines multiple distribution points and multiple load balancing devices, all connected directly to IIJ's backbone and monitored 24/7. No new equipment is required by the customer in order to use this stable broadband distribution system. 2. A Full Distribution Service Menu The customer has a wide range of distribution methods to choose from whether on-demand or live distribution of streaming video, or software and game downloads. 3. Reasonable, Flexible Pricing In addition to fixed rates for contract bandwidth, there is a volume-based plan that allows for extremely high traffic within a fixed time period. With these plans, customers can get just the bandwidth they need without excess cost. 4. Convenient, Dedicated Help Page Users can access the dedicated help page to download the access log or check traffic and the number of simultaneous accesses. Users can also choose the option of domestic distribution only for a copyright protection of content.

As broadband access spreads, more and more people are downloading movies, music, and other rich content, and this is driving the need for high-volume content distribution. IIJ has always worked to provide solutions to market needs, such as for the distribution of high-definition TV and high-volume downloads. This latest service combines the distribution systems designed by IIJ to meet the needs of individual customers, and by putting them into standard service, IIJ can provide convenient low-cost content distribution that can be tailored to meet the customer’s traffic needs.
