PAETEC Chooses Mitel to Deliver IP Telephony Desktop Solution for Global Financial Trading

PAETEC Communications, Inc., today announced that is it teaming with Mitel, a leading provider of IP communications solutions, to provide an integrated desktop solution which will allow global financial institutions to eliminate the need for large capital investment, while establishing off-site light trading sites, as well as ensuring critical network resiliency.

The feature-rich solution will include Mitel's Navigator desktop appliance, as well as Mitel's conferencing and collaboration solution, Your Assistant. PAETEC's IP Telephony financial solution will include networking via the Mitel 33300 Integrated Communications Platform (ICP), voice, and data applications, and future market data services. The PAETEC-Mitel solution will be demonstrated at the SIA (Securities Industry Association) 2005 Technology Management Conference and Exhibit at the New York Hilton on June 21 - 23 (PAETEC Booth #1416; Mitel Booth #4109).

The PAETEC-Mitel solution is based on Internet Protocol (IP) technology, which is transforming the way information moves in the financial industry. The PAETEC solution will convert the desktop to a monthly recurring charge rather than a significant investment in premises-based hardware as the new service moves network intelligence to desktops everywhere.

The powerful combination of Mitel Navigator and Your Assistant, delivers a platform that is ideal for high-performance environments like financial trading, allowing for centrally managed applications and allowing all traders to be mobile. Mitel's solution allows for "virtualization" of its applications in that all can be hosted centrally, as both the PC and voice networks are converged, allowing for simpler management and lower networking costs.

As a telephony endpoint, the Mitel Navigator supports the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Mitel's own MiNet protocol. Mitel Navigator can also be integrally linked to the award-winning Mitel Your Assistant, which is a highly intuitive suite of tools delivering presence, collaboration, video, and instant messaging with knowledge, call, and directory management that improves efficiency through a single interface.
