2,300 Lose Power in Quincy

October 2, 2008

QUINCY – Some 2,300 National Grid customers in North Quincy were without electricity for about an hour Monday.

They lost power shortly before 5 p.m. Utility workers traced the problem to an underground cable at a substation off Newport Avenue Extension. Firefighters were called to the scene because smoke was pouring out of a manhole.
