GREEN Packet plans to make more headway into WiMax with the launch of a range of WiMax Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and software and valueadded services. Its WiMax CPE series, which includes indoor and outdoor modems, as well as its IN series communications solutions are targeted at telecommunications and Internet service providers and device manufacturers.

Company senior general manager Kelvin Lee said the WiMax CPE solutions have been field-tested for interoperability by Packet One Networks (P1).

(P1 is the first company to commercially roll out WiMax services in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region.) The easy-to-use and scalable solutions not only will help telecommunications service providers and Internet service providers draw more subscribers to their services, but also improve customer retention and loyalty.

The WiMax CPE solutions offer seamless switching between networks such as Wi-Fi, general packet radio service (GPRS), thirdgeneration (3G) and WiMax.

As for the IN series communications solutions, they comprise the Intouch, Infinit and Interact platforms, and support various services to enable operators and device manufacturers to offer better end-user experience.

The Intouch Connection Manager, for example, is a lifestyle connectivity management tool that converges connection management, communication services and entertainment within a single client, offering end users unified access to networks, devices and applications. It brings connectivity convenience through a user- friendly interface and allows a single sign-on to a host of services and applications.

According to Lee, the Intouch Connection Manager has been successfully deployed by telecommunications companies in China, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Besides the WiMax CPE and software, Green Packet has unveiled monitoring solutions that offer secure, wireless online surveillance systems for the home, business and public areas.

Aptly named PacketEyes, the monitoring solutions comprising PacketEyes SOHO (for small office-home office outfits) and PacketEyes Metro (for public surveillance) enable users to monitor their premises through a 3G- enabled phone and Web portal (www.packeteyes.com).
