Matisse Networks Demonstrates Traffic-Aware Transport With Its EtherBurst(R) Optical Switch at Light Reading Optical Expo
DALLAS, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Light Reading Optical Expo --Matisse Networks, pioneer in the field of optical burst switching (OBS) and the unique EtherBurst(R) packet WDM system which delivers both the efficiencies of Ethernet packet switching and the unmatched bandwidth of DWDM optical technology, announced today that it will showcase its EtherBurst optical switching platform at the Light Reading Optical Expo, booth #204.

The demonstration features triple play and Ethernet data services delivered on a WDM transport network using optical burst technology to dynamically allocate bandwidth to support the traffic volume demand from each service. The Matisse EtherBurst packet switch is the only traffic-aware transport system capable of this level of granular allocation of bandwidth to multiple services within the optical domain. The demonstration features voice over IP, and video applications along with an Ixia Optixia XM2 test set to generate data traffic and display the dynamic bandwidth allocation between the services.
Traffic-aware transport provides flexible assignment of bandwidth by performing real-time traffic engineering within the optical network. It brings the same packet efficiency gains resulting from statistical multiplexing of traffic and flexible provisioning that have led to the wide-scale deployment of carrier Ethernet to the optical transport network.
