Netvibes Powers Personalization and Widgets for Russia’s Top Internet Portal, Rambler.Ru

October 7, 2008

Netvibes (www.netvibes.com), the leading widget and personalized startpage platform, today announced its partnership with Rambler.ru (www.rambler.ru), one of Russia’s most popular Internet portals, to power personalized startpages across Russia and the CIS. This multi-year strategic partnership is a milestone for Netvibes’ rapid revenue and market share expansion in the startpage and widget industry. It is also the first time that Netvibes’ platform has been installed within and distributed by an exclusive regional partner.

Rambler.ru is one of Russia’s top Internet portals, with more than 40 million unique visitors and 3 billion pageviews per month. Starting in November, the next version of Rambler.ru will offer their users personalized startpages and widgets powered by the Netvibes platform. While traditional portals are often limited to search, the Netvibes partnership will enable Rambler.ru to offer much more: email, RSS newsfeeds, social networks, photos, videos, games and thousands widgets — in addition to powerful search features — all on one page. The new personalized startpages are expected to feature search (Google); video search (Blinkx); video downloads (Rambler Kinozal); product comparisons (Price.ru); Russian news (Lenta.ru); instant messaging (Rambler ICQ); as well as top Russian media and news content.

“Our strategic partnership with Netvibes enables us to enhance the user experience by making Rambler.ru completely tailored for millions of individual users at once. Our new personalized startpages give users full control over their daily digital lives and access to Russia’s best online content and search services — all from a single, customizable page,” said Mark Opzoomer, CEO Rambler Media.

As part of this agreement, Netvibes’ most award-winning startpage and widget platform will be installed, hosted, maintained, localized and distributed in Russia exclusively by Rambler.ru’s parent company, Rambler Media. Regional partnerships represent a key area of revenue and market share growth for Netvibes, further expanding the company’s deep presence in key startpage and widget markets worldwide.

“Russia is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing Internet markets and we are proud to partner with Rambler Media, one of Russia’s most popular Internet brands. Key regional partners of this caliber enable us to better localize and distribute our widgets and personalized startpage technology to meet the myriad needs of all users around the world,” said Freddy Mini, CEO Netvibes.

Today, Netvibes is one of the Web’s largest widget distributors, serving more than half a billion widgets per month. Netvibes’ award-winning personalized startpage technology is localized for more than 150 countries and 80 languages, and powers more than 1,000 leading brands, including Le Figaro, ITV, El Pais, Die Welt, IlSole24Ore, CBS, News Corp, Sohu and CNET Asia.
