Fairchild Semiconductor’s Green FPS(TM) Power Switch Wins E-Legacy Award
Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), a leading global supplier of high performance products that drive energy-efficiency, was awarded the E-Legacy award for its highly integrated Green FPS power switch. In the “Contribution to Sustainability” category, Fairchild Semiconductor’s FSFR2100 was recognized for its innovative approach to conserving power and the role it plays in preserving the environment.
The FSFR2100 Green FPS power switch offers a dramatic improvement in efficiency in resonant converter designs such as telecom power, high-end audio amplifiers, large-size laser printers and LCD and PDP TV power supplies. Compared to conventional hard-switch converter topologies, efficiency is improved by ten percent, and in applications such as PDP-TVs, efficiency can reach 97 percent.
Electronic Product Design (EPD), a technical journal for senior design engineers, covers design news, ideas, technology reports and application features. Two of the most popular categories were Contribution to Sustainability and Environmental Design, showing how electronics companies are conscious of the drain on the earth’s resources and are proactive in combating environmental deterioration.
