Children’s Choir Forms for Quincy Youngsters
QUINCY - First Presbyterian Church of Quincy has formed a children's choir open to kids in the city who are in grades 3 through 5.
The church wants to provide vocal and musical training, as well as performance experience, for children not only from the church but also from the rest of the community.
The choir will be directed by Allen Thomas, former supervisor of music for Holbrook public schools and director of music at First Presbyterian for the past 14 years.
Thomas has experience with vocal music, particularly the training and development of young voices. He will be assisted by Val Levarity, a retired Quincy public school teacher with more than 30 years of experience with elementary-age children.
Activities will include a Christmas concert, a spring drama/ musical and performances on select Sunday mornings at First Presbyterian.
The choir rehearses from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at the church, 270 Franklin St. The program is free. For more information, call the church office weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 617-773-5575.
