SAN FRANCISCO, June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, and co-sponsor, Sun Microsystems, today announced the Ricoh and Sun(TM) Java(TM) Solutions $100,000 Developer Challenge at the JavaOne[sm] Conference. This program is designed to encourage creative submissions for both commercial and open source software applications that provide solutions that will run on the Ricoh Embedded Software Architecture platform. Participants in the Developer Challenge must be Premier Plus members in good standing of the Ricoh Developer Program (RiDP).
Ricoh understands that the key to success is through continued and expanded research and development activities. By opening up its platform to third-party developers, the Ricoh Premier Plus Developer can tap into a wealth of knowledge and expertise to further enhance and encourage the development of superior solutions.
Ricoh and Sun Microsystems will start taking entries for both categories on June 27, 2005. Entries into the best viable Commercial Solution category will be judged by perceived and expected success in the commercial marketplace, and will remain the exclusive property of the participant. Most useful Open Source Solution category entries may be for small or large applications and will be judged on their perceived and expected benefit to the community of Ricoh Embedded Software Architecture and Sun Microsystems Java(TM) Micro Edition developers. All signed application and registration forms must be received by December 31, 2005.
