California's Apple Inc. has invited the news media and industry experts to an event analysts say will be the introduction of a low-priced laptop computer.
The invitation shows a solitary spotlight highlighting the Apple logo on a notebook computer, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
Analysts expect Apple is poised to offer a laptop with prices around $800 for what could be a new MacBook or a new MacBook Pro, the Journal reported.
Computers are still the core of the Apple business with notebook sales accounting for 61 percent of its computer revenue. Total computer revenues for the company jumped to $3.6 billion in the second quarter, 43 percent higher than the second quarter a year ago, the Journal reported.
