Optimum Lightpath Metro Ethernet Services Deliver Robust, High-Capacity Bandwidth for New York Metro Area Businesses

Lightpath(R), the business telecommunications services division of Cablevision Systems Corporation, announced that, effective today, the company is being rebranded "Optimum Lightpath" to better position its Metro Ethernet services for success in the business telecommunications marketplace. This move integrates the organization's portfolio of Metro Ethernet product offerings with Cablevision's highly acclaimed Optimum-branded suite of digital cable, high-speed Internet and digital voice products and services.
"For more than seventeen years, the Lightpath organization has been a leader in delivering fiber to the customer's premise as the underlying infrastructure for high-capacity, high quality data and voice services," said Dave Pistacchio, executive vice president and general manager of Optimum Lightpath. "Our recent shift to Metro Ethernet and our initiative to simplify our customers' wide area networks strongly aligns us with the Optimum brand and its excellent reputation in the marketplace. Our new product set will deliver the best and most technologically advanced solutions available that are easy to buy, provision and use."
In January 2005, Lightpath introduced its highly-reliable Metro Ethernet product line that is offered at very high speeds (10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps) and is delivered via fiber optics directly to the customer's premise. These Ethernet circuits can be used for high-capacity data transfer, Internet access or a combined Internet access/voice services bundle.
Optimum Lightpath's focus on Metro Ethernet coincides with a growing demand from enterprises that are hungry for more bandwidth and are looking to reduce their costs associated with moving data and voice around the New York Metropolitan area. Ethernet offers a way to do both due to its bandwidth capacities and relatively inexpensive cost per bit.
"Optimum Lightpath maintains the same commitment to providing customers with superior service, something which we've been recognized for by the New York State Public Service Commission for each of the last seven years," said Kevin Curran, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Optimum Lightpath. "In this ultra-competitive telecommunications marketplace, we take pride in consistently outperforming our competition on service quality. When we combine our track record on service with our new product portfolio, Optimum Lightpath truly represents a new, easier way for enterprises to satisfy all of their high-capacity bandwidth needs with a single provider."
