Toshiba Receives Planet PDA Magazine's ``Product of the Year Award'' for 2004

Posted on: Tuesday, 28 June 2005, 12:00 CDT

Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Digital Solutions Division (TAIS DSD) announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC(R))'s Planet PDA(TM) Magazine (www.planetpdamag.com) has named the Toshiba SoftIPT(TM) SoftPhone a recipient of a 2004 Product of the Year Award. It was the only softphone to be honored with an award.

The Toshiba SoftIPT SoftPhone wirelessly extends the features and functionality of Toshiba desktop telephones to suitably equipped PDAs running PocketPC 2003 and laptops, tablet PCs, and PCs running Windows XP(R). The SoftIPT SoftPhone allows users to access their telephone features from virtually any location by connecting to the enterprise's Toshiba Strata CIX(TM) native IP business communication systems or Strata CTX(R) digital business communication systems through 802.11 wireless networks.

"We are proud to be honored with Planet PDA's Product of the Year Award for the Toshiba SoftIPT SoftPhone," said Larry Meyer, vice president, sales and marketing, of TAIS DSD. "The SoftIPT can be used anywhere users have access to wired or wireless connectivity, empowering them to extend their desktop telephones to their PDAs, laptops, and/or PCs, increasing productivity and mobility as well as reducing overall communication costs."

"Planet PDA Magazine is pleased to bestow its Product of the Year Award on Toshiba for its SoftIPT SoftPhone, honoring its excellence in technological advancement and application refinements in the handheld computer industry," said Rich Tehrani, president and group publisher of Planet PDA. "Toshiba has demonstrated to the editors of Planet PDA that it has gone the extra mile in creating the SoftIPT SoftPhone, a truly innovative handheld computing product."

The Product of the Year Award winners for 2004 were published in the April 2005 issue of Planet PDA Magazine (www.planetpdamag.com).
