SafeNet Launches Type 1 Sonet/SDH Encryptor
SafeNet, a provider of information security solutions, has launched the KG-340, its Type 1 Sonet/SDH Encryptor for the protection of classified information sent over US government networks.
Developed under the National Security Agency’s Commercial Comsec Evaluation Program (CCEP), the KG-340 is a new improvement in transport encryption for optical networks up to 10Gbps speeds, said SafeNet.
Because of its better security capabilities, the KG-340 is expected to be deployed by the US government’s Intelligence Communities, Department of Defense, and civilian agencies to protect classified communications traversing the information grid. The KG-340 provides full-duplex hardware-accelerated encryption with Haipe compliant key exchange, added SafeNet.
Jim Summers, senior vice president and general manager of government solutions division at SafeNet, said: “SafeNet celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2008, and the KG-340 is another milestone in the company’s long history of providing government and data protection solutions to the world’s security conscious organizations. The KG-340 underscores SafeNet’s commitment to providing security technologies to this critical community of Type 1 communications users.”
