AtMail Continues to Lead Industry in Intuitive Webmail Applications With Release of AtMail 5.5

October 14, 2008

BRISBANE, Australia and COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ — AtMail, a leading provider of easy-to-use, Linux-based email management appliances and software, today announced the latest release to its commercial Webmail platform, AtMail 5.5. The new AtMail 5.5 version includes support for Canonical’s Ubuntu Server Edition Linux-based operating system.

AtMail 5.5 provides support via apt-get for the smoothest installation on Ubuntu Server. Since its launch in October 2004, Ubuntu has become one of the most highly regarded Linux operating systems, gaining popularity and renown worldwide for it’s usability. Ubuntu Server Edition provides an up-to-date, stable server operating system, with a low cost of ownership and easy integration into existing networks. AtMail provides users with a unique installer package that will auto detect if the system is running Ubuntu and if it is, prompt the user to install the missing dependencies and then proceed with the installation of Atmail.

“The AtMail 5.5 release is in direct response to the increasing demand we have from our customers to support Ubuntu Server, plus it includes enhancements such as full TLS support in Exim,” said Corey Bissaillon, vice president of AtMail. “Together AtMail and Ubuntu Server provide a new option for organizations that want to leverage the advantages of open source tools combined with the reliability of a proven, commercial-grade email management solution.”

New enhancements to AtMail’s core WebMail solution include:

Support for Ubuntu Server: Installer now allows users to access apt-get to aid in the migration process.

Full Transport Layer Security (TLS) Support: Enhanced security for webmail communications.

Added Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) Support to Exim: Allows users to check inbound DKIM signatures which helps prevent spammers forging domains and email identity.

Improved Webmail Calendar Interface: Firefox 3 and IE 7 users can now more easily view calendar features and functions.

Enhanced SQL Indexing for MailDir Messages: Drastically speeds up email searches for local accounts.
