Tideway Foundation 5.3 Providing Automatic Fingerprinting for Sun Solaris 10 and Microsoft Windows OS
Tideway Systems(TM), leaders in IT Service Configuration Management, today announced the worldwide availability of Tideway Foundation(TM) 5.3. The new version of this IT service configuration management solution adds the ability to model bespoke applications, alongside significant advances in the software's visualization capabilities and the inclusion of pre-packaged application programming interfaces (API's). Tideway has also significantly enhanced the software's agent-free automated discovery capabilities with extended support for a broad range of version identification, including; Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows Operating System (OS) environments, HP-UX, OpenVMS, Tru64, IBM AIX, OS/390, OS/400, 2/05, 2/05.e and most commercial Linux distributions.
Tideway Foundation provides organisations with transparency of their complex IT environments, enabling them to model critical business applications and identify supporting infrastructure, while serving as a cornerstone to implementing IT best practices. Tideway Foundation also cuts across previously disparate silos of information and removes the labor typically involved in critical IT processes, such as incident and change management. This reduces business application downtime and improves process efficiency.
To reduce the downtime and management overhead caused by risk and resiliency analysis, Tideway's enhanced visualisation capabilities enable organisations to look at their business applications from several different, valuable perspectives, and also with varying levels of granularity of the data. Tideway has also expanded the product's API functionality enabling users to integrate with leading Business Service Management (BSM) solutions, providing automated business service views from the network through to business services for rapid and accurate impact analysis.
Tideway Foundation 5.3 uses agent-free discovery techniques to provide rapid fingerprinting of the most common hardware, application software and operating systems. Tideway has enhanced support for both Microsoft and Sun Microsystems environments in Tideway Foundation 5.3. It has harnessed Microsoft's Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to provide deeper automated discovery capabilities in a Windows environment, whilst working within Windows' security constraints. Tideway has worked closely with Sun Microsystems to provide enhanced recognition of their operating systems and hardware, including Solaris 10, allowing Foundation to provide the most granular set of configuration management data possible for both operating systems and software versions running on Solaris environments.
Nigel Hopgood, head of compliance, Sun Microsystems UK commented: "Tideway Foundation is helping a number of our customers, particularly in the investment banking arena, to meet risk management and IT governance requirements, demonstrating visibility and control across their IT infrastructure. The enhanced support Tideway Foundation now provides for Sun's Solaris OS enables our joint customers to get optimal management capability as soon as Tideway is deployed."
