MTS Communications decided to replace its existing wireless software provider and install the Intellisync Carrier Platform in part to expand their wireless email and PIM (Personal Information Management which includes calendar and contact information) services to a broader market. The integration of the Intellisync Carrier Platform into MTS Communication's product family is part of the mobile carrier's strategy to offer the widest range of wireless and enterprise mobilization capabilities to its subscriber base.
By choosing the Intellisync Carrier Platform, MTS Communications will have the capability to easily expand the application set to include file and data synchronization capabilities. "Meeting the evolving needs of our customers is our key priority," says Kelvin Shepherd, chief technology officer, MTS Allstream, Inc. and chief operating officer, MTS Communications. "Intellisync offered the right fit to enable the expansion of our wireless messaging solutions so we can continue to meet the dynamic needs of our customers," he says.
The Intellisync Carrier Platform launched by MTS Communications will keep smartphone users up to date with their groupware-based email, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes. Intellisync software can be quickly downloaded and installed to push email and PIM data in Microsoft Outlook(R) or Lotus Notes(R) to nearly any mobile device. Intellisync Wireless Email acts as an agent to enable two-way real-time synchronization of email, as well as calendars, contacts, tasks and other information. The solution can be easily configured to monitor a single user's mailbox or entire workgroups from any PC in the office.
"For wireless email and PIM, every open data-enabled device offered on the MTS network will be 'Powered by Intellisync'," explained Clyde Foster, chief operating officer of Intellisync. "We are very excited about being selected by MTS Communications. This win is particularly telling of a recent trend in the industry: carriers are reevaluating their earlier mobile platform installs with the early software start-up ventures and are looking to upgrade their mobile services from clear leaders who can scale and deliver. Intellisync will now enable MTS Communications to provide wireless services that its entire customer base can use -- from independent contractors to large enterprises."
Intellisync Wireless Email is a hosted solution that can be easily installed and deployed by an individual or workgroup behind the corporate firewall. The solution is built on a highly secure, fully-redundant network architecture that is designed to minimize downtime and maintain performance at a high level. MTS Communications will sell the Intellisync Wireless Email solution directly through its sales channels to customers in all the markets it serves.
