AmericanLife TV Network(TM) (www.americanlifetv.com), the Nation's only cable network devoted to the Baby Boomer generation, has produced a documentary to address the serious issue of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) suffered today by many of our returning Iraq War veterans. Through interviews with veterans and their families, from WWII to Vietnam to Iraq, the documentary titled "Invisible Wounds" will bring to light the rarely discussed challenges many of our veterans encountered upon returning home. This documentary will leave audiences with a better understanding and awareness of the devastating impact war can have on both our soldiers and their families. Exclusive premiere of "Invisible Wounds" airs on ALN on October 21st at 8:00 and at 11:00pm (EDT).
"These issues impact many American families whose loved ones have dedicated their lives to the service of this nation. It is our hope that we at AmericanLife TV Network highlight the 'invisible wounds' of our veterans and families," said Larry Meli, President and COO, AmericanLife TV Network.
AmericanLife TV Network brings you classic TV, lifestyle programming, socially conscious programming like Nick & George Clooney's "A Journey to Darfur" and Martin Luther King III's "Poverty in America," along with great originals.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that is developed after exposure to a traumatizing experience that is either physically harmful or threatening to a person. Events that cause PTSD include horrific accidents, natural disasters, personal attacks and most commonly military combat. People with this disorder usually have a difficult time controlling their emotions, feelings and thoughts. Frequently nightmares and frightening reoccurring images and memories cause people with this disorder to either feel emotionally numb or be easily startled.
