Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM), a global provider of end-to-end satellite-based communications solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a hybrid communications contract utilizing multiple state-of-the-art technologies.
Pursuant to the contract, Globecomm will design, deploy, operate and maintain a communication network, utilizing the Company's recently announced Managed Mobile Network Services Platform (MMNSP) as the core technology for providing distributed GSM networking. The network will also feature Globecomm's new 1.2 meter Auto-Explorer Transportable Satellite Terminal and Globecomm's broadband access solution based on iDirect Technology.
Once the network is complete, Globecomm can route Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) traffic through the MMNSP in its facility, which has rich connectivity to multiple public telephony networks allowing for flexibility in the routing of VOIP minutes on both the cost and quality fronts. The system can also provide Broadband iDirect services for Internet access, and data.
The system will be provided to a prime contractor for demonstration to overseas military and civilian government organizations. It will provide GSM cellular services and Broadband Internet access anywhere these organizations deploy our systems.
David Hershberg, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Globecomm Systems Inc., said, "Globecomm continues to bring together multiple best-of-breed technologies in the marketplace at competitive price points allowing new customers to leverage the company's investments and launch their business plans rapidly by outsourcing part or all of their network to Globecomm. While this contract is small in nature, these business models have great potential for Globecomm. We become a technology partner with these customers to assure that their network is robust and scalable affording them the opportunity to continuously offer the most modern technologies in the marketplace which allows them to remain competitive. For Globecomm, the Company continues to implement its business model, which is based on the concept of designing, deploying, operating and maintaining networks providing a recurring revenue stream once the networks go live."
