ConSentry Secures Intellectual Property for Pioneer Elecronics

October 20, 2008

ConSentry Networks announced today that Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has selected the LANShield(TM) platform to protect critical intellectual property data on its LAN. As an innovator in groundbreaking home and mobile entertainment technologies, protecting valuable intellectual property is essential to Pioneer(R)’s business. With ConSentry’s intelligent control, Pioneer can manage who accesses the LAN, prevent virus outbreaks and apply role-based controls to limit access to data.

As Senior Manager of infrastructure and operations for Pioneer, Max Reissmueller was familiar with competitive offerings but found them either too restrictive, extremely labor intensive, or not secure enough. “I needed a solution that could protect the company’s intellectual property without intruding on the day-to-day activities of our development teams and partners,” Reissmueller said. “ConSentry’s product doesn’t just look at the initial connection; it continues to inspect the traffic and the activities beyond just basic authorized or non-authorized users. I have complete control over every packet that enters my network.”

The full scope of ConSentry’s intelligent control along with its granularity of configuration options helped drive Pioneer’s decision to deploy ConSentry. Easily deployed and configured, the LANShield platform authenticates users against standard identity stores and automatically learns their roles. For each traffic flow, the solution identifies the application in use, applies policies based on role, and fully tracks all activities. This level of granularity ensures that Pioneer is constantly aware of all activity on its network and can manage that activity to an individual user level.

“Competitive business models depend on network openness for outsourcing, collaboration with partners, and rapid application rollout,” said Joe Golden, CEO of ConSentry. “The ConSentry platform enables our customers to adopt these more flexible business practices without compromising the integrity or availability of their sensitive corporate information.”
