Huawei Technologies Develops 100 Gigabit Ethernet Prototype

October 20, 2008

Huawei Technologies, a China-based provider of telecom network solutions, has developed its 100 gigabit ethernet prototype.

According to the company, the 100 gigabit ethernet (GE) technology provides a high-speed ethernet interface and works with 40G and 100G WDM technologies to provide transport solution for operators that can support large-capacity data services.

Huawei’s 100GE prototype realizes the even distribution of the rate to 10 physical channels to implement the 100GE port technology. In addition, this prototype supports monitoring and protection functions and provides the 100GE port with enhanced reliability.

Christian Chua, president of transport network product line at Huawei, said: “With these Huawei has become the only supplier in the industry that can provide the end-to-end transport solutions for large-capacity OTN/WDM data services. We will continue to focus on our customers’ needs, to innovate, and to strive to alleviate the bandwidth pressure caused by ultra-broadband services.”
