NCP Engineering’s VPN Secure Entry Client Supports Leading Biometric Security Technologies
Leading provider of endpoint security and virtual private network (VPN) solutions, NCP engineering GmbH (www.ncp-e.com) today announced that its Secure Entry Client now supports many biometric devices. The latest compatibility testing has been successfully completed for digitalPersona’s U.are.U 4000B USB-based fingerprint reader.
By integrating biometric authentication devices into a traditional VPN, network administrators have proof that only an authorized user is accessing that laptop, PC or handheld. Further, NCP’s Secure Entry Client forces each device to match a specific software and settings profile, defined by the network administrator, before the VPN gateway allows access to the network.
The bundled NCP Secure Entry Client provides users a single software solution that integrates secure data transmissions, a dynamic personal firewall, Friendly Net Detection, and one-time password token and certificate support through a public key infrastructure (PKI). The dynamic firewall allows users to set policies for ports, IP addresses and segments, as well as applications. The Friendly Net Detection, created by NCP engineering, forces the network to identify itself to the device, preventing any data packet transfer until a safe or “friendly” network has been detected. Configuration and policy logic are easily set through the NCP Secure Entry Client itself.
A 30-day trial version of NCP Secure Entry Client offering unrestricted use is available online at http://www.ncp-e.com/en/downloads/software.html. NCP’s software runs under the Windows Vista (32/64 Bit), Windows XP (32/64 Bit), Windows CE, Mobile 5/6, Linux and Symbian operating systems. For Active Directory or other LDAP systems, the NCP Secure Entry Client offers corresponding interfaces.
