GoAhead Software Announces Compatibility Between GoAhead SAFfire and Sun Netra(TM) ATCA Blade Servers

Posted on: Wednesday, 22 October 2008, 09:00 CDT

GoAhead(R) Software, the worldwide leader in open standards-based high availability and systems management middleware for carrier-grade and mission critical systems, today announces a standards-based high availability solution for Sun Netra(TM) ATCA blade servers. Network equipment providers leverage GoAhead SAFfire(TM) high availability and management middleware with Netra ATCA blade servers, to focus on innovation, speed time to revenue and reduce overall project costs.

"More and more our customers are looking to COTS vendors to supply not only standards-based solutions, but also the integration work that is required to make the platform application ready," states Dr. Asif Naseem, president and chief operating officer of GoAhead Software. "GoAhead and Sun offer interoperability out-of-box, enabling the equipment providers to significantly speed delivery of revenue generating applications," Naseem explains.

Leveraging the code base from GoAhead's flagship product, SelfReliant, proven in more than 35,000 deployments worldwide, SAFfire features sophisticated availability and management capabilities, such as systems management, availability management, platform resource management, application services, foundation services and a small, cross-platform kernel. Most notably, SAFfire boasts the most comprehensive implementation of the SA Forum Application Interface Specification (AIS) highlighting support of the Availability Management Framework, Information Model Management, and Notification, Log, Platform Management, Cluster Membership, Checkpointing, Event, and Messaging services.

"Sun Microsystems is pleased to provide compatibility "out of the box" with GoAhead SAFfire and Sun Netra ATCA blade servers, the broadest and most complete family of ATCA servers in the market today," states Raju Penumatcha, vice president, Netra systems and Networking for Sun Microsystems. "NEPs are looking for ways to gain a competitive edge, and this application ready platform equips them to do that."
