Beautiful Stranger.TV Finds Style and Fashion on Every Corner and Plans Global Reach Through the Internap Content Delivery Network (CDN)
Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, announced today its Content Delivery Network (CDN) is powering Beautiful Stranger.TV, an innovative social networking website based on fashion and style. Beautiful Stranger.TV selects everyday people with exceptional fashion sense and features them as 'stars' in 30-second online video profiles that are streamed using the Internap CDN.
Based in Manhattan, Beautiful Stranger.TV connects in-vogue visitors to the latest wearable designs and personal care items. The company conducts impromptu interviews with 'beautiful strangers' found at various venues and events and streams the content online using the Internap CDN. With each streamed interview, Web links to the products, brands or services mentioned by the style-setter appear so visitors can locate and purchase the items that appeal to them.
Beautiful Stranger.TV is the brainchild of television and fashion industry veterans and co-CEOs Melissa Fedor and Abby Wallach, who have applied their editorial expertise to the selection process for beautiful strangers.
"The Internap CDN allows us to put street style online as part of a global social network," said Fedor. "Every detail matters as we build the Beautiful Stranger.TV brand. With the Internap CDN and 100% SLA, we can be confident that the user experience, which is so tied to our brand, will be exceptional."
Wallach added, "We have stringers in cities across the country, and soon around the world, looking for real people with unmistakable style. We conduct video interviews with them to discover the products they are using, wearing and loving at the moment. The result is we are building a community and lifestyle network on the Web. Key to our business strategy is leveraging Internap's secure, reliable and scalable CDN solution to give us the network capacity and streaming media capability to reach a global audience."
The Beautiful Stranger.TV Web site was recently upgraded to accept user-generated content (UGC) submissions from fashion hubs around the world, also supported by Internap CDN services. This new feature, along with sponsorship opportunities and advertising with geo-targeting, will enable visitors to submit themselves or their friends to be selected as 'beautiful strangers' and could potentially expand the Beautiful Stranger.TV community to millions of unique viewers per month.
Control Group, technology partner to Beautiful Stranger.TV, recommended Internap's CDN services over other providers because Internap afforded them a comprehensive solution that can scale as a web-based business grows. The Internap CDN includes a 100% performance service level agreement (SLA) and a portfolio of value-added services including live Web events, transcoding, support for mobile devices, digital asset management and a powerful service and analytics portal called MediaConsole(R).
"Beautiful Stranger.TV is turning a great idea into a growing business, and our CDN is a reliable network platform to support that growth," said Tim Sullivan, chief technology officer at Internap. "Internap's outsourced technology services including CDN, data center colocation, IP networking and managed servers provide a menu of solutions that fit the unique needs of high-growth, media-centric businesses. These companies appreciate Internap's expertise, flexibility and agility that is so important at this stage in their lifecycle."
