VeriSign Strengthens Internet Infrastructure in Spain With Terremark

VeriSign, a US-based provider of internet infrastructure services for the networked world, has expanded its internet infrastructure by deploying additional infrastructure in Terremark's Madrid facility, the NAP de las Americas Madrid. Terremark Worldwide is a US-based provider of IT infrastructure services.

The deployment is part of VeriSign's Project Titan initiative to strengthen and its global internet infrastructure. In addition to its deployment in Spain, VeriSign has previously deployed core internet infrastructure at the NAP of the Americas in Miami. VeriSign's infrastructure in the Miami facility includes primary generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) servers for .com and .net.

Ken Silva, chief technology officer at VeriSign, said: "The .com and .net infrastructures are continually being fortified and scaled to defend against increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks. VeriSign is increasing the capacity of its global internet infrastructure by 10 times by the year 2010 and it has become ever more important to proactively expand our infrastructure to areas where Internet users are rapidly expanding."
