Stantum Technologies (www.stantum.com), a pioneer developer of multi-touch sensing technology, today announced the appointment of Etienne Paillard as chief executive officer. He succeeds company co-founder Guillaume Largillier, who assumes the newly created position of chief strategy officer.
"With the market for multi-touch technology booming, Stantum required a seasoned management professional to lead our company, enabling me to execute our strategies for continued success in this burgeoning market," said Largillier. "Etienne Paillard has the right credentials to serve as CEO at this most promising time in Stantum's history."
Paillard brings to his new position more than 25 years of management experience, most recently as CEO of Varioptic, a Lyon, France-based leader in liquid lens technology, where he built a complete organization - from R&D to large-scale production - and established key partnerships with companies like Samsung, SEMCO, ST Micro, and Seiko. Previously, he was CEO of Temex, an electric/electronic manufacturing company. Paillard holds an MBA degree from INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France.
Stantum was founded in 2002 as JazzMutant, making multi-touch surface controllers for audio and media applications. Earlier this year, the renamed company established an OEM business unit in response to a growing demand for its multi-touch solutions by electronic device manufacturers and third-party system integrators. Stantum is now working with leading companies in various business areas - including consumer electronics, aerospace, and medical imagery - enabling integrators to design innovative multi-touch interfaces for their own products, thus simplifying the development process and considerably shortening the product's time-to-market.
About Stantum Technologies
Stantum Technologies (formerly JazzMutant) has pioneered multi-touch technologies since its founding in 2002 by Guillaume Largillier and Pascal Joguet. The following year, it developed the world's first multi-touch screen that could track an unlimited number of fingers at once and in 2005 launched Lemur, the first multi-touch product available on the market. Today, Stantum's technology portfolio and product offerings cover every aspect of multi-touch interaction, including sensor design, multi-touch controllers, intellectual property cores, software integration, and application programming interfaces. Stantum is headquartered in Bordeaux, France, with the U.S. accounting for about one-third of its worldwide sales.
