VeriSign and TrustBearer Form Smart Card Security Alliance

Internet infrastructure and security company VeriSign and authentication and digital identity company TrustBearer Labs have formed a strategic alliance to simplify the use of smart cards and security devices.

VeriSign's Public Key Infrastructure offerings will be combined with TrustBearer's products to enable organizations expand the use of their cards, protect users from online identity theft, streamline approval processes, and safeguard sensitive private data.

Adam Geller, vice president of enterprise and government authentication at VeriSign, said: "Smart cards hold enormous potential for providing fast and secure access to services, and PKI offers a vital way to reduce risk exposure and comply with security regulations. Working with TrustBearer not only helps us access new customers, but also helps current customers derive more value from their existing PKI implementations."
