Posted on: Tuesday, 28 October 2008, 09:00 CDT
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TigerLogic Corporation , today introduced a new ChunkIt! (http://www.getchunkit.com/) search feature, "Chunk Store", a one-click method to conveniently search for and retrieve key product information from leading online retailers -- Amazon, eBay, Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and Circuit City. This new search feature further demonstrates the wide variety of ways to utilize ChunkIt! to search behind the links of any Web page. The new feature helps online shoppers quickly find the items they are looking for by enabling them to search the product descriptions of major online stores without spending time clicking through individual links.

According to the National Retail Federation's (NRF) 2008 Holiday survey, shoppers are relying on the Internet more than ever to browse for holiday gifts and research products. According to the NRF survey, the Internet will influence 33.6 percent of holiday purchases. The combination of the ChunkIt! features -- "Chunk Google" and "Chunk Store" -- enable online shoppers to streamline the product research process and assist them in finding the best products at the best prices.
Shoppers can use ChunkIt! to dig deep into the dozens of links found on a store's product listing page and extract the "chunks" of content that they are most interested in. ChunkIt! conveniently displays all of the discovered chunks in a panel on the left side of the browser window. Shoppers can then quickly glance at all the pertinent product information so that they can compare features and prices. By clicking on any chunk, users can open a page in the right panel to view the same piece of information highlighted in the context of the original product description page.
"As convenient as online shopping may seem, it can still be a frustrating, time consuming process," said Carlton Baab, CEO of TigerLogic. "Whether they're searching the Web for product reviews, or shopping on Amazon, shoppers are typically opening and scanning through dozens of links before they find the right items. Now, with a single-click of the "Chunk Store" button, ChunkIt! can do all the tedious digging for you so that you can focus more of your precious time and effort on researching and selecting the products that best suit your needs. It's something that value shoppers will truly appreciate during these difficult times."
ChunkIt! isn't just for shoppers -- anyone can use it to save time online. Whether you are a student, parent, researcher or business professional, ChunkIt! makes practically any search task on the Web faster and easier, including:
-- Search Engines - ChunkIt! enhances the search results from any search engine including Google, Yahoo!, MSN Live Search, AOL and Ask
-- Academic research - ChunkIt! seamlessly previews the valuable contents stored within the links of research sites like LexisNexis, JSTOR, ScienceDirect and Wikipedia
