SIIA Launches Certified Software Manager (CSM) Seminar in India

WASHINGTON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association of the software industry, today announced that their Certified Software Manager (CSM) seminar has expanded to India.

The CSM seminar is designed to help IT managers comply with an increasing array of software license agreements, maximize the legal use of software and administer vast digital asset inventories.

IT managers who successfully complete the one-day CSM course are officially certified by SIIA, and more importantly, have the skills needed to diagnose, resolve and manage complex software licensing issues -- often saving their companies millions of dollars in penalties. Thousands of IT managers have been CSM certified since the programs inception in 1994.

"Understanding and staying current with multiple software licensing agreements can be overwhelming for even the most senior IT staff," said Keith Kupferschmid, VP, Intellectual Property Policy & Enforcement. "SIIA's Certified Software Manager course has made huge strides toward keeping companies in compliance here in the U.S.; continuing to expand the program internationally is a logical next step."

India joins Australia, Canada and China as countries that have implemented CSM seminars in an effort to enable IT managers to maintain control over their company's software assets and eliminate software piracy.

SIIA licensed YASH Information Systems (YASH) to teach the course throughout India starting in July, 2005.
