Greater China's Leading Interactive Advertising and Digital Marketing Event, Ad:Tech, Returns to Shanghai

SHANGHAI, China, Oct. 29 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- With its long history of groundbreaking digital marketing events in Greater China, the ad:tech conference, the world's largest interactive advertising and digital marketing event, will be held in Shanghai once more. It will run from November 25-26, 2008 and take place at the Shanghai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Over the course of the past few years, China's online market has experienced amazing growth. Incredible innovations in technology, the realization of new media opportunities and the remarkable increase in users online clearly demonstrate the need for marketers to reconsider their media strategies.
In fact, TNS research has found that China recently overtook the United States to become home to the largest number of online users worldwide, at 221 million in early 2008, meaning that the urgency to understand China's online marketing trends is that much greater. The ad:tech Shanghai conference will bring together digital decision-makers and leading edge Chinese and multinational Internet companies to share insights, exchange knowledge and discuss the future of China's online market.
A wide variety of trends will be discussed at the ad:tech conference, highlighting how China's digital market is indeed unique, expanding rapidly and in great need of continuing to be properly analyzed. "Yahoo! research has shown that Chinese people are five times as likely to lead a 'parallel life online' as Americans," said Paul Beckley, Vice President of ad:tech Shanghai 2008. "One major driving force for this online behavior is self expression; Chinese online users aged 16-25 are particularly web savvy compared to their U.S. counterparts, with 80 percent saying digital life was an essential part of their existence compared with 68% of Americans. Many of these Chinese respondents also indicated that their online motivation was to freely share opinions, which is a point that is of great interest to digital marketers."
Robin Li, CEO of Baidu, China's largest search engine, opens ad:tech Shanghai with his keynote presentation, "The Revolution of Marketing." Drawing on his 10 year industry experience as a search pioneer, Li will share how the power of search has reshaped marketing, as well as explore the future of digital marketing. Baidu is not just a force within China but also ranks as one of the top three search engines worldwide; according to Marketingcharts.com/Comscore in December 2007, with 3.4 billion searches, Baidu came in ahead of MSN and almost caught market leaders Google and Yahoo!
