RUS Accepts Pannaway Networks' Mobile Backhaul System

Pannaway Networks, a leading supplier of next-generation Ethernet/IP Multi-Service Access Platforms for telecommunications service providers, today announced that it has received technical acceptance for its Broadband Access Switch, the BAS(TM)-150, by the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Acceptance on the RUS List of Materials allows qualified borrowers to use RUS loan funds to purchase and deploy their choice of the industry's highest performance copper and fiber-based solutions.

This latest RUS acceptance enhances Pannaway's existing Service Convergence Network (SCN(TM)) system and provides yet another tool that enables service providers to evolve their legacy networks to Ethernet/IP. Leveraging pseudowire technology, the BAS-150 enables service providers to establish "virtual wires" for the transport of traditional TDM services along the same cost-effective, high performance, converged Ethernet transmission path. The BAS-150 is particularly valuable for carriers planning to offer backhaul services to mobile operators. Wireline service providers can also leverage Ethernet pseudowires to provide business services and to transition existing T-1-based services off of platforms that are nearing their end of life.

The recent RUS acceptance of Pannaway's BAS-150 means that service providers will now have even more choice to roll out the technology that best fits their current infrastructure, future goals and subscriber demands.
