Moshcam, Australia’s Premier Web Music Station, Dials Up the Internap Content Delivery Network (CDN) for On-Demand, Live Music Streaming
Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, announced today its CDN is powering Moshcam, Australia’s first free online, on-demand, live music channel.
Moshcam is building the world’s largest online showcase of live music, providing Australian bands with a new media platform and showcasing the best of international touring bands to global listeners. No longer will the only recording of a pivotal live gig be 30 seconds of mobile phone footage. With Moshcam, entire shows can be captured forever through multi-camera, live coverage using state-of-the-art production facilities.
The Moshcam site was designed with one thing in mind: user friendliness. Its intuitive format ensures nothing gets between the fan and the live music experience. Utilizing the latest streaming technology, enthusiasts can jump to any track within concerts. They can also register for a Moshcam account to create a personal library of concert video playlists, as well as embed favorite tracks on their own websites. Customized players are used to encourage artists and their fans to embed Moshcam music streams on third-party Web sites.
“With a catalogue of more than 300 hours of content, we needed a robust, reliable global CDN to deliver it and Internap was the clear leader,” said Paul Hannigan, Moshcam director of product development and Internet veteran. “Internap was the first to launch streaming CDN services using Adobe(R) Flash(R) and their recent network expansion in Australia, London, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore made them a perfect fit to support the level of streaming functionality that our global reach requires.”
In May 2008, Internap completed a significant global expansion of its CDN, adding 12 new points of presence (PoPs) in North America, Singapore and Australia and upgrading existing PoPs in North America, Hong Kong, Japan, London and Amsterdam. The CDN PoPs are fully integrated with Internap’s global Private Network Access Point (P-NAP) and data center infrastructure, providing a route-optimized network, managed servers and storage and Web-based management and business intelligence through the MediaConsole(R) portal.
“Our history of delivering streaming media and our global CDN expansion, including the new point of presence in Australia, solidified Moshcam’s confidence in our CDN services and trust in our 100% performance SLA,” said Tim Sullivan, chief technology officer at Internap. “Moshcam aims to give users around the world the best online music experience and we are proud to serve as their network backbone.”
Moshcam is a consumer media company for people to watch and experience broadcast-quality videos of live music concerts on demand and for free.
