IFX Networks Selects PeerApp’s UltraBand 1000 to Accelerate Internet Video Delivery in Latin America

PeerApp Ltd., the leader in Intelligent Media Caching and content acceleration solutions for the Video Internet, today announced that IFX Networks has selected PeerApp's UltraBand(TM) 1000 product to improve network operations in Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

Headquartered in Hollywood, Florida, IFX Networks is a leading Network Services Provider (NSP) serving regional and non-regional carriers and telecommunications operators in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela.

According to IFX Networks CEO Sammy Mezrahi, rapidly growing volumes of P2P and HTTP streaming traffic continue to cause congestion in all regional networks, producing a poor experience for broadband subscribers throughout Latin America. To avoid a quality crisis, IFX implemented PeerApp's UltraBand product, accelerating content to subscribers and thereby improving their Quality of Experience (QoE).

"The volume of traffic continues to grow at a tremendous rate, primarily driven by services such as YouTube(TM) and RapidShare and P2P file-sharing applications such as BitTorrent(TM) and Ares," said Mezrahi. "We knew we needed a response. After investigating alternatives, we determined that PeerApp's UltraBand was the ideal solution for IFX."

Mezrahi said: "Once we installed the UltraBand 1000, our subscribers immediately began to see a huge improvement in performance, the speed of downloads and streaming of videos. This was a tremendous help for us, as we finally were able to reduce the repetitive transmissions of popular content over our transit links and at the same time improve the speed of delivery."

He continued: "Today customers are demanding delivery of content faster than the submarine cable can provide. Transparent caching is the only practical solution that delivers content at the velocity that customers demand. The UltraBand is simply the best caching solution for our region. It's not just a competitive differentiator for us, it also saves us money. It's the ideal solution for us."

"IFX Networks' experience shows how the UltraBand can provide instant relief from Internet congestion without expensive infrastructure upgrades or overspending on international transit bandwidth," said PeerApp CEO Robert Mayer. "Service providers can now proactively control bandwidth demand instead of it controlling them."

UltraBand is the only multi-purpose caching platform that reduces network congestion, saving money and improving customer satisfaction. It also gives service providers a platform for delivering premium broadband packages and specialized Internet Video services.
