Fiber optic solutions provider US Signal has selected Adtran, a US-based provider of network access solutions, as the vendor of choice for both ethernet over copper and ethernet over TDM solutions.
According to Adtran, its Total Access 5000 ethernet aggregation platform, NetVanta 800 Series of intelligent network termination units (NetVanta 818, 838 and 873), will be used to provide the copper based metro ethernet extension for US Signal's 4,000 mile fiber-based Midwestern data network servicing customers in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Dan Olrich, executive vice president of operations at US Signal, said: "Adtran's ethernet solutions offer unique capabilities that allow us to reach more customers with next-generation services, and enable our customers to reap benefits in terms of both higher bandwidth and the operational benefits of a converged ethernet network."
