Cape & Islands Realtors Launch Home Listing Site With Buyers and Sellers in Mind

October 30, 2008

WEST YARMOUTH, Mass., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ — In what could prove to be a shot in the arm to the regional real estate market, the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors has launched a new, multiple listing service web site that gives buyers and sellers direct access to home and business listings on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

The site — http://www.capeandislandsmls.com/ — also gives consumers direct access to statistics — such as current and historical market activity — that were previously out of easy reach of the public.

“It’s one-stop, online shopping for buyers and sellers,” said Association and MLS President Jamie Regan. “This site takes the guesswork out of the home search process.”

Regan said it’s the first web site in eastern Massachusetts to offer the buying and selling public an online search tool to a multiple listing service database, one he described as the most current and accurate array of Cape and Islands properties anywhere.

“Today’s tech-savvy consumers are highly informed, and they demand accurate listings and supporting data,” Regan added. “This site delivers. Even better, it makes it much easier for consumers to find and create valuable business relationships with Cape and Islands Realtors.”

Henry J. DiGiacomo, the MLS and Association’s CEO, said, “The Cape Cod & Islands MLS Board of Directors is always seeking innovative solutions to empower our Cape & Islands MLS members. It anticipates that the launch of CapeAndIslandsMLS.com — with its consumer-searchable data — will complement broker and agent websites, and will provide members with innovative tools and solutions.”

DiGiacomo continued, “The new web site will be complemented by a comprehensive public awareness campaign that is intended to increase awareness of the Cape and Islands MLS site. It may also attract new consumers to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket real estate markets, people who may otherwise be looking to buy in other international resort and second home markets.”

In addition to the consumer-searchable MLS, the web site incorporates technologies such as:

— Easy Access to Open House Information — consumers may search by town, price, and other factors

— Cape & Islands Rental Listings – seasonal visitors may search for vacation and year-round rentals

— Find a Realtor – Information about experienced Realtors who are available locally to help buy and sell homes

The web development project was directed by Mike Kennedy, Director of Information Technology for the association.

The Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors and its MLS are located on Mid-Tech Drive in West Yarmouth. They have 2,300 members, and are one of only two independent, Realtor association-owned-and-operated MLS services in Massachusetts.
