SureWest Communications to Deploy Allied Telesis’ Intelligent Multiservice Gateway in SureWest Sacramento Fiber-to-the-Home Networks
Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, announced today that leading independent communications holding company SureWest Communications (NASDAQ: SURW) has approved the iMG626MOD for active fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment in Sacramento by SureWest's operating subsidiaries there.
Allied Telesis has provided Intelligent Multiservice Gateways (iMGs) to SureWest for FTTH since 2004. After extensive testing and field trials of the iMG600 MOD SureWest has chosen this 4th generation of iMG, reflecting its continued confidence in Allied Telesis products.
The bandwidth leader in the markets it serves, SureWest offers a cutting-edge triple-play of television, Internet and telephone through IP-based technology in Sacramento. Its FTTH network delivers the triple-play of services through a fiber pipe that distributes 100 Mbps of bandwidth to a customer's home. Products delivered over this network include crystal-clear HDTV, multi-stream HD DVR service, the fastest symmetrical Internet speed in the nation at up to 10, 20 or 50 Mbps both uploading and downloading, and a best-in-class interactive VoIP phone service with over 22 features.
