DULUTH, Ga., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Persist Media, Inc., owner of The Photo Archival Company(R) brand (http://thephotoarchivalco.com/), formally unveiled its solution to unlocking millions of hours of video trapped inside today's generation of no-tape camcorders that record to internal hard drive or flash memory.
For nearly three decades, consumers have captured life's most precious events on video cassette tape. By design, each video cassette held about one or two hours of footage. A new cassette could be inserted within seconds, as necessary. The low cost of blank cassettes made it practical to store footage for nearly two decades in their recorded format with little or no intervention.
By contrast, the current generation of sophisticated tape-free camcorders can store dozens of hours of video footage, all internal to the camcorder itself. While the features, video resolution, software, proprietary cabling and hardware to drive these tapeless camcorders is ever-changing, there is one absolute certainty to all of these devices. At some point, internal storage on the no-tape units will become full and the video footage must be archived to make room for new recordings.
The Photo Archival Company(R) is able to preserve video footage directly from the customer's tapeless camcorder, external USB hard drive or flash memory to produce long-lasting DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
"The recurring theme from a typical customer is that it is impractical for them to archive their digital footage first hand," said Charles Laughlin, President and founder of The Photo Archival Company. "For the average household, it can be a daunting task to spend the necessary time to tend to the successful creation of several DVDs or Blu-ray Discs just to continue filming."
The Photo Archival Company(R) is a national leader in multimedia preservation and conversion services. The company provides customers with a broad range of professional services such as videotape transfer, slide scanning, open-reel (8mm, Super8, 16mm) film preservation, 35mm slide scanning along with related online media hosting and physical vaulting services.
The Photo Archival Company(R) is a franchised company headquartered in Atlanta with locations throughout the United States.
