Bay Microsystems Named 17th in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 for Silicon Valley
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Bay Microsystems, Inc., an innovative leader and expert in the design and development of high performance communications solutions, today announced that it has been named to Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 for Silicon Valley. The Technology Fast 50 program ranks the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, and life sciences companies headquartered in Silicon Valley based upon fiscal year revenue growth over five years (2003-2007).
Bay Microsystems, which was ranked #15 in the Rising Star category in last year's Technology Fast 50 for Silicon Valley, was ranked by Deloitte as one of Silicon Valley's fastest growing technology companies based upon revenue growth of 1,396 percent over the past five years. The company's products and technology have enabled demanding network applications, such as wide area virtualization and data center extension, and have facilitated the convergence of broadband voice, video, data, and multimedia content in service-provider, enterprise and government networks since 2003.
"We are excited to be recognized again this year by Deloitte as one of the fastest growing technology companies in Silicon Valley," said Charles Gershman, president and CEO of Bay Microsystems. "This recognition not only reflects the unrelenting focus on excellence demonstrated by the entire team at Bay, but also validates the high levels of quality, performance and value that our innovative industry-leading solutions deliver to the market. Our products enable enterprises and government agencies to deploy mission-critical applications such as wide area virtualization and data center extension to increase network availability while reducing operating costs for their operations around the world. These capabilities are becoming increasingly important in the global economy and Bay's solutions are delivering those capabilities today."
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in fiscal year 2003 and $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2007, be headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, and be a company that owns proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.
Companies from the regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies.
