Mixed Signals Launches Industry's Most Comprehensive Video Monitoring Solution for Video Service Providers

Posted on: Monday, 3 November 2008, 09:00 CST

Mixed Signals, the leading provider of digital content monitoring solutions, today announced its new Source-to-Edge (S2E) content monitoring architecture, the most comprehensive solution for the real-time monitoring of programming throughout the video infrastructure, enabling service providers to quickly detect, localize and address video and audio issues anywhere within a network to comprehensively find problems and determine overall video service health.

Video service providers understand that providing the best possible quality of service (QoS) results in customer satisfaction and reduced churn and a clear reduction in operational expenditures. However, due to the complexity of their networks the ability to provide quality QoS has become increasingly difficult. Errors can occur anywhere from the source (master headends) to the edge of the network, making it extremely challenging to discover the root cause of issues.

Mixed Signals has developed its new S2E architecture to enable network-wide monitoring of video programs, simplify the process of troubleshooting issues, and track overall performance and health of the content in aggregate trending reports. S2E is comprised of two new products in addition to Mixed Signals' current product portfolio - the Sentry(R) content monitor, the Sentry Edge monitor for post-QAM RF monitoring and the Medius(TM) application manager. The two new products that Mixed Signals are introducing to complete the S2E architecture are:

-- Sentry Verify - a cost-effective monitor for encrypted or unencrypted video at remote locations, such as hub sites.

-- Consul - a powerful server application that organizes and displays aggregate service delivery and quality information from all markets, providing comprehensive reporting that centrally identifies trouble areas and helps to determine performance over time.

When fully deployed as an integrated solution, the S2E architecture gives service providers an unparalleled ability to continually monitor all the video in their networks, beginning with the "source" (i.e., master or national headend) to the secondary headends and ultimately outlying hubs at the network "edge." S2E provides the ability to consolidate and standardize hundreds of monitoring points into a single user interface for trending and problem resolution. This will give service providers an unprecedented ability to easily understand the overall health of their network by determining factors that impact quality and service uptime.

"Our new Source-to-Edge solution addresses our customers' need to find the root cause of video delivery and quality issues and track their overall performance over time," said Eric Conley, CEO of Mixed Signals. "This approach revolutionizes the value that monitoring provides by offering our customers a complete monitoring solution that tracks their progress toward a five 9s metric for service delivery and quality."
