IBM India Wins Maersk Contract Extension
IBM has won a contract extension from AP Moller-Maersk to provide IT services to its liner shipping division Maersk Line. Datamonitor estimates the contract to be worth $75m over three years.
IBM will provide infrastructure platform services including implementing new servers, consolidating and updating existing server platforms, and upgrading middleware.
The company signed a five-year contract in 2007 with Maersk to provide IT infrastructure and services.
Michael Laursen, chief information officer at Maersk Line, said: “It is a key part of Maersk’s IT strategy to make increasing use of IBM’s offshore services. IBM India has for several years performed significant work for us on applications support, and this is the next step to also let IBM India provide services related to IT operations.”
