Hyper9 Named As Top Start-Up to Watch By Network World
Hyper9, Inc., the leader in search-based software for managing the dynamic nature of virtual environments, today announced that IDG's Network World has selected Hyper9 as one of its "10 IT Management Start-Ups to Watch." Companies are selected for Network World's Companies to Watch list based on the strength of each company's technology and their industry segment.
Hyper9 uses five data collection methods to gather configuration, patch and other data on virtual and physical machines. To collect data, Hyper9 inspects the VMware VirtualCenter database, VirtualCenter via an API, host servers, virtual machines and the sessions within the virtual machines. The software aggregates data and presents it through a Web-based interface, coupling the search results with business intelligence metrics and potential actions to take in response to search results.
Hyper9's placement on the Network World list follows the company's beta program launch, which was opened to qualified virtual infrastructure administrators in September 2008. More information on the beta program is available from Hyper9 and additional limited invitations are being made available from virtualization industry influencers such as Rich Brambley and Scott Lowe.
"As virtual environments increase in complexity, virtual infrastructure administrators must find, track, report and diagnose problems within virtual environments, yet they lack the necessary tools that are needed in order to sufficiently collect and navigate the data," said Chris Ostertag, Hyper9 CEO. "Search-based management promises to deliver the immediacy and the accuracy necessary to solve this emerging IT management challenge by offering visibility into relationships between virtual machines and historical information to determine what has changed. Network World's recognition of Hyper 9 is a wonderful validation of our search-driven approach."
