Storage Professionals Name the Storage Vendors That Have Replication Solutions That Work Best With Server Virtualization — New Research From TheInfoPro
TheInfoPro (TIP), an independent research network and leading supplier of market intelligence for the Information Technology (IT) industry, today announced that, according to its newly published F1000 Storage Networking Report, Storage decision-makers think EMC, NetApp, IBM, and HDS are the vendors that have replication solutions that work best with server virtualization. EMC's SRDF was the #1 choice, receiving 21% of the mentions. In addition, among MSE Storage pros, NetApp, Compellent, EMC, and HDS have the best replication solutions that work best with server virtualization, according to TIP's newly published MSE End User Report -- with NetApp's SnapMirror, Compellent's StorageCenter, and EMC's SRDF each receiving just over 15% of the mentions. TIP's F1000 Storage Networking and MSE End User Reports are both part of its bi-annual Storage Study, which provides market data on technologies, industry opportunities, and trends within the storage market.
To view a rich media presentation of findings, visit: http://www.brainshark.com/theinfopro/stor_ntwrkg_pr"Within the F1000 and MSE organizations, consolidation and virtualization adoption are continuing to climb to the head of Storage professionals' list of top initiatives. They are considered to be key dynamics that are causing network storage growth, and are among the technologies that will have the greatest impact on storage architecture," said Robert Stevenson, TIP's Managing Director of Storage Research. "Because server virtualization will have such drastic effects on architecture, bringing about many new concerns, such as scalability, support matrices, and recovery integrity, many storage teams are over-provisioning the solution and are putting it primarily on Tier 1 products."
In order of ranking, the following vendors and products were mentioned among the F1000 organizations: EMC SRDF, NetApp Snapvault, IBM SVC, HDS HUR, EMC RecoverPoint, EMC VMware VMotion, EMC MirrorView, HP XP 24000, NetApp SnapMirror, FalconStor IPStor, EMC VMware SRM, EMC Invista, 3PAR InServ S800.
In order of ranking, the following vendors and products were mentioned among the MSE organizations: NetApp SnapMirror, Compellent StorageCenter, EMC SRDF, HDS HUR, EMC MirrorView, Xiotech Magnitude 3D EMC VMware SRM, Symantec VVR, IBM SVC, EMC Celerra.
Together, 250 firms, including 140 Fortune 1000 Large Enterprises and over 100 Midsize Enterprises in both the U.S. and Europe, were interviewed for the Wave 11 Storage Study, providing commentary and insight on their Storage adoption plans, management strategies, spending, and vendor performance. Storage Technology providers that were mentioned throughout the study include: 3PAR, Adaptec, Attune Systems, Arkivio, Asempra, Attachmate, Autonomy, BakBone, Blue Coat, Broadcom, Brocade, CA, Ciena, Cisco, CommVault, COPAN, DataDirect Networks, Data Domain, Dell, Double-Take, Egenera, EMC, Emulex, FalconStor, Finisar, Force10 Networks, Fujitsu Siemens, HDS, HP, IBM, IBRIX, Incipient, InMage, Isilon Systems, Juniper, LSI, Microsoft, NetApp, NEC, Nexsan, Nortel, ONStor, Overland Storage, Oracle, QLogic, Quantum, Quest Software, Rackable Systems, Red Hat, Riverbed, Seagate, SEPATON, Signiant, Silver Peak, Spectra Logic, Sun, Symantec, Virtual Iron, Voltaire, Winchester Systems.
