United Online, Inc. (Nasdaq: UNTD), a leading provider of consumer products and services over the Internet, today announced the promotion of Steven B. McArthur, 41, to President of its Classmates Media Corporation subsidiary that provides online social networking services and online loyalty marketing services.
McArthur joined United Online in August 2007 as President of the company’s Classmates Online subsidiary, which includes the Classmates social networking Web site in the U.S. and Canada as well as social networking Web sites in Europe under the StayFriends and Trombi brands. “Steven’s leadership has established an operating discipline at Classmates Online that has delivered exceptional results,” said United Online Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark R. Goldston. “Important accomplishments at Classmates during Steven’s tenure include strong growth in social networking pay accounts, implementation of a new Web site design, the successful introduction of several key marketing campaigns and Web site features, increased site traffic and creation of user-generated content among both free and pay members, and outstanding growth in our European Web sites.”
“We have a number of marketing projects underway that are designed to pursue potential synergies from the similar demographic profiles of Classmates and MyPoints members,” Goldston added. “Considering Steven’s track record at Classmates and throughout his career, I am confident he will do a great job championing this important initiative and providing leadership of the combined entity in his expanded role.”
Prior to joining Classmates Online, McArthur served as President of North American operations for Expedia, a leader in online travel with a portfolio of Internet brands including Expedia, Hotels.com and Hotwire.
