Hughes Announces Cooperative R&D Agreement With DISA

Hughes Network Systems, a US-based provider of broadband satellite network solutions and services, has announced a cooperative R&D agreement with the Defense Information Systems Agency to study network centric enterprise architecture validation of IP networking with the Regenerative Satellite Mesh standard and the Spaceway 3 system.

Under this cooperative R&D agreement, Hughes and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will perform R&D that supports overall IP convergence as the basis for integrating Department of Defense SATCOM networking and information needs with the global information grid.

Dan Fraley, chief technology officer and general manager of defense and intelligence systems at Hughes, said: “We look forward to collaborating with DISA on this important satellite networking effort using our Spaceway 3 system assets.”
