LSI Collaborates With HP on Storage Virtualization Platform
MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Corporation today announced that it has entered into a joint technology arrangement with HP that leverages the LSI StoreAge(TM) SVM(TM) (Storage Virtualization Manager). HP, with additional product development of the SVM solution, has developed the new HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform (SVSP). This provides customers with a heterogeneous storage consolidation and data migration solution that improves performance, reduces cost and delivers flexible disaster recovery capabilities.
"LSI and HP have a long history of collaboration and we're delighted to work together to bring the significant benefits of our fifth-generation storage virtualization technology to the HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform," said Flavio Santoni, executive vice president and co-general manager, Engenio Storage Group, LSI. "As a result, HP customers will now be able to reduce the complexity of managing heterogeneous storage infrastructures while realizing greater efficiency."
The LSI StoreAge SVM technology suite provides storage virtualization, advanced replication, thin provisioning and data migration capabilities that are essential in today's complex storage environments. The architecture is designed to deliver enterprise-class scalability in the number of snapshots and replication tasks per volume, and incorporates features such as data migration and thin provisioning to help simplify virtualized infrastructure management and dramatically increase storage capacity utilization. The software also delivers green benefits by enabling storage platform consolidation, which reduces data center power consumption for improved energy efficiency.
"Customers are increasing their use of storage virtualization as it protects critical information and streamlines their business operations," said Bob Wilson, vice president, Storage Platforms Division, HP. "We have enhanced LSI's storage virtualization technology so it seamlessly integrates with the HP storage portfolio. As a result, HP SVSP simplifies the management of heterogeneous storage arrays to enable enterprise customers to improve productivity, improve operations and lower total cost of ownership."
