City of Asco Installs Wireless Broadband Network Solution From Motorola

Posted on: Wednesday, 12 November 2008, 12:00 CST

The city of Asco, Spain, has installed Motorola's Motomesh Duo wireless broadband network solution throughout the city.

This solution is supplied and installed by Motorola partner Eurona. According to Motorola, its Motomesh Duo solution is capable to meet increasing bandwidth demands from municipal users, mobile businesses and residential subscribers. The system is also being used to automate the control of traffic through the city's network of narrow streets, which are limited to residential access.

According to Motorola, Motomesh Duo is a dual radio wireless broadband solution that delivers real-time data at speeds of 10Mbps and reduces the backhaul costs of wide scale networks. The network is able to support a broad range of applications including VoIP, video surveillance and location-based services while meeting stringent return on investment targets and providing optimum economic flexibility.

Jaume Sanpera, director general at Eurona, said: "The Motomesh Duo units are small in size, lightweight and have low power consumption, allowing them to be mounted in a short period of time on buildings and street lights - with minimal visual impact. Additional units can easily be added to the network to cater for increased demand."
