New Media Expert Eddie Garrett Joins Porter Novelli’s Washington, D.C. Office
WASHINGTON, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Porter Novelli is pleased to announce the addition of Eddie Garrett to its Washington, D.C. staff, as senior vice president, new media. A strategic, energetic leader with a track record of building successful digital businesses and content across multiple arenas, Garrett leads all aspects of interactive strategy and implementation for Porter Novelli clients.
One of Garrett's initial assignments at Porter Novelli has been to oversee the redesign and implementation of the Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE), a Web site centerpiece tool that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) makes available to the banking public to determine if their accounts are fully insured. FDIC Web site traffic has increased significantly, with more than a 1,400 percent jump the day after EDIE's relaunch.
Garrett joins Porter Novelli from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., where he served as director of communications and new media. In this role, he was responsible for leading external and internal communications and implementation strategies across the corporate, entertainment, news, and sports divisions at Turner Broadcasting. Additionally, Garrett directed corporate new media strategy, overseeing external Web sites dedicated to Turner's corporate and external press Web sites; Turner's internal daily electronic news rundown; and the corporate Intranet, among others.
Prior to that, Garrett led development teams at Gotham Broadband in New York City, producing interactive television campaigns for DIRECTV and a variety of international clients, such as UPC/chello and Deutsche Telekom.
In 2005, Garrett was a member of the CNN team that won a George Foster Peabody Award for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.
Garrett holds a BS in communications and an MBA from the University of Georgia.
