If you’ve ever bought or sold something on eBay, you know how important it is to receive positive feedback from the buyer or seller. Think of that feeling, then add it up 1 million times, and you have experienced what Jack Sheng is feeling right now.

Sheng, 33, is the owner of the Los Angeles-based Eforcity Corp., which sells electronics accessories on the site he began his company in 2000. Over the past two months, four individual eBay user IDs owned by Sheng and his company each separately exceeded more than 1 million feedback points. No other seller on eBay has ever come close to that landmark.

EBay sellers receive positive feedback points from buyers by shipping items swiftly, advertising the item accurately, and by being willing and flexible to resolve issues that may arise.

Eforcity has about 200 employees, more than it used to have eight years ago. In 2000, it was merely a part-time job for Sheng, who worked as a technology consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Two years later, he and his friends decided to work full-time on Eforcity and hired others to help them.

Sheng figured out six months ago that Eforcity might hit the 1 million feedback mark sometime this year. "It’s a great morale booster for our employees," he said.

What is his advice for new eBay sellers trying to start their own businesses? Find out what you are good at, and go with it.

"If early on if we’d tried to sell electronics rather than electronics accessories, we might be out of business right now," he said.

Sheng is way in the lead of the No. 2 feedback leader on eBay, a DVD and CD seller with a feedback score of 754,000.

EBay is honoring Sheng with a ceremony at its San Jose, Calif., headquarters Thursday, with Chief Executive John Donahoe present at the ceremony.
